Inside The Lines

This community event, organized and executed with the support of the AIA Houston Architecture Center’s Kids + Architecture Committee, invited children ages 4-12 to explore tennis, art, and nature in an accessible and inspiring way. Participants were introduced to the basics of tennis, helping open the door to a sport that can sometimes feel out of reach due to cost or exposure. After learning the fundamentals on the court, children ventured into Memorial Park, where they engaged in watercolor painting, observing the landscape and expressing their creativity through art.

By pairing sports, creativity, and the natural environment, the event aimed to broaden access, spark curiosity, and foster confidence in young participants—showing that both tennis and the arts can be joyful, inclusive experiences open to all.
